This is one of those goals that’s under “whenever it happens it happens” so I’m not rushing anything…just enjoying the wait and collecting ideas for when the time comes.
I was baking cookies last night to bring in to the office and I stumbled across the recipe for animal crackers/cookies. You know…the ones in the little box that looks like a train car. They were so easy….and tasted soooooo GOOD!! My husband loved them. I made about 5 dozen regular sized cookies with the dough last night and will make more this weekend with the mini cookie cutters. I had 4 of them already so they are the right size to make animal crackers.Although I don’t have any animal shapes just Christmas shapes.
I suddenly had visions of making them all the time for my own kids. Spending hours tediously cutting out and baking little toddler-hand sized animal cookies and sending them out toplay with a little baggie full to share with friends or siblings and loving every minute of it.
Gave me one of those “warm fuzzy” moments….....
oh Lord….I’m going to be one of those obnoxiously sweet PTA moms aren’t I? good Lord when did that happen?!

I put it off long enough….I THINK I’m finally ready.

that's

so great…good for you for waiting.

I remember

my dad telling me when I was a teenager that he thought it would be wise to wait at least 5 years after you get married to have kids. He said it was so that you have time to really bond with your spouse and do the things that you can’t easily do once kids are in the picture. So there are no regrets, no resentment and no early marriage debt to potentially tear a marriage apart.
That was probably one of the best pieces of advice my dad ever gave me.
There have been plenty of times I have NOT wanted to wait and got all hormonal…but for the past two years the advice my dad gave me has FINALLY taken root.

Alrighty then...

you can’t go and leave an entry like that without sharing the COOKIE RECIPE!!

fer pete’s sake.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease cookie sheets. Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy.Stir in the extracts and eggs and mix and mix till well blended. Slowly stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk.

Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface until no more than 1/4 inch thick.Cut with small cookie or pie crust cutters and place on cookie sheets. Bake for about 6 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool then store in an airtight container.

Have fun!!! Let me know how you like them. :)

Fabulous!

We’re making cookies this year. I plan on getting my family nice and fat. They’ll love me for it. Well, they’ll love me for these cookies anyway.

Cheers! You are going to be one of those Moms. You’ll be great…I’ve got a 1-year old and while it does have its moments, when he grins at me or giggles at me, I’m telling you – life doesn’t get any better than that. I don’t think there is any better reward than my son’s grin or giggle. (Apparently I am quite the source of amusement!) Enjoy – I know I am trying to cherish every moment (they change SO VERY FAST!)
