manage my health with minimal disruption to my life (read all 195 entries…)
Went to my doc for my annual physical today 6 months ago

and was pleased to find my weight’s down by almost 20 lbs, along with my trigylerides and bad choesterol. All very good for my heart.

At the same time, I finally asked him why I’m waking up in the mornings with one side of my back hurting, jsut above my waist. I was worried about my lungs, but a chest xray ruled out cancer. Unfortunately it ruled in scoliosis—something in my muscles spasming strong enough to pull my spine out of allignment.

Pifful.

I don ‘t even see why that would be happening!!!!

I thought

Scoliosis was something one was born with. I have some mild scoliosis but a nephew had it bad enough to have to wear a brace in his teen years for a couple of years if I remember correctly.

Yeah-- I think that's true for some kinds

What he thinks I have is muscular, not a skeletal deformity, per se. In other words, the muscles are pulling the spine out of line; in that case, physical therapy might help. He said he didn’t know why it was happening, but we know a superb PT, and he thought she should investigate first.

That’s one reason I like this guy so much. He’s very respectful of other professions….

If it's not one thing it's another

Kudos on the weight loss & improved cholesterol numbers! That’s wonderful.

I hope the PT works wonders with the muscular scoliosis.

Ha! Well, this one is not a big deal

to me. I had been remembering that my mother had mild back pain for several months before her lung cancer was diagnosed, pain that was slowly getting worse. To be honest, I was a little worried about that, since the risk for me is elevated for lung CA. Having that xray was very reassuring.

Anything muscular I can deal with. It’s not set in stone, as best as I can figure, and with some changes in posture and PT, I’m assuming it’ll go away.

BUT Iwould like to go for a physical sometime and find that nothing is wrong with me!!!! :D

Long John Silvie is home and hopping mad!!

Arrgghhh!!

But it does sound as if it can be alleviated with therapy – which is good. Hope you find a good therapist who can really help.

Sherlock has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
