Buy a motorcycle (read all 3 entries…)
Road Rash 5 months ago

Last weekend my dad and I took a little trip to California for a motorcycle run down there. It is kinda one of our father daughter yearly things :). We took a little spill…which was the first time I ever have. I got a pretty bad case of road rash on my knee, wrist, and also sprained my ankle.

The crazy thing was that I would have been ready to hop right back up on that bike and continue the ride. The only thing holding me back was the fact that I couldn’t get my boots on anymore, and my knee needed medical attention. Hehe :D.

Now I am just chilling, waiting for my body to recover. I feel so thankful that my injuries were not bad for a motorcycle accident. Many of the fellow riders were wondering if I would ever ride again. Heck yeah I will. But I have learned a valuable lesson and will not go without my gear! The gloves saved my hands (for the most part), the boots saved my ankle and foot, the jacket saved my arms, but I unfortunately was wearing jeans and so my knee had little protection. That will teach me!

Anyway I am pretty stoked still about getting myself a motorcycle. My dad has been trying to get me out to help him look for a replacement bike for himself and possibly a cheap one for me to get comfortable on :). It will still be a few more days of staying off my feet (for the sake of my ankle more than anything), but hopefully I will be able to check out possible bikes soon. Interesting how when something bad happens, it spawns good things to happen :D.

Josh ...and life just rolls on like a river.

Glad...

...to know you’re alright. :)

...and it’s cool that the skid didn’t scare you off riding. It’s like they say… there are those who have been down and those who are going to go down. If you ride long enough, it’s going to happen (statistically speaking). Knowing what to do and having the right gear really puts things in your favor.

Oh man! That sounds like quite an experience. I don’t do much flying, luckly just sliding.

For the most part I am healed up now, with quite an interesting wound on the knee that draws conversation :). I am just now starting to get back to dancing and am stoked about that! And as for getting back on a bike, I have been making awesome attempts at riding myself and have to get past a little fear that has surfaced relating to curves. Haha :D. That is all a part of what makes life interesting though :).
