I have been jogging twice in the last week, once last Thursday and once this evening. However, I can’t mark this goal as complete yet because I didn’t run for very long. Unfortunately, my stamina is really low and my fitness is poor, so I get too knackered after about 5 minutes (and that’s jogging, not a full-out sprint!). I’ve set myself a relatively short distance to do and recorded the time it took me and I’m going to try and reduce that time before adding to the distance.

So, it may take a while to do 30 minutes in one go. Perhaps, I should have set my sights a little lower when I set this goal, taking into account my awful level of fitness. Never mind – it’s set now, but it will take me longer than originally anticipated to complete this.

You can do it!

To build up stamina it is a good idea to try to do some intervals… jog for 4 min, walk for 4 min, jog again for 3 min, walk 3 min… etc.

Then the next time you can try to start by little longer intervals… jogging 5 min, walk 5 min, jog 4 min, walk 4 min… etc

Also I find it very helpful to have some good up-beat music in my !Pod when i’m running. :) You could also use the music as the intervals… run one song and then walk the next… by doing that you don’t have to watch the clock as closely and you know aprox. how long there is left of the song :)
