Worth doing!

I just read Edna St Vincent Millay's Renascence  — 2 years ago

I’ve known about it for years, but I don’t know if I ever read the whole poem.
You know, the one which starts out with

All I cound see from where I stood
Was three long mountains and a wood:

Comments:

my favorite poet ever!!

I once recited that entire poem…I don’t think I remember much of it now though…

_All I could see from where I stood
Was three long mountains and a wood
I turned and looked the other way
And saw three mountains and a bay
So with my eyes I traced the line
Of the horizon, thin and fine,..._

...ugh…I probably jumbled some of the words, and I don’t remember what comes next. But oh, how I love Edna St. Vincent Millay…I adore her poetry so very very much! She was a huge influence on me in high school, and I have pages and pages of poetry I wrote when I was a lovesick teenager that reflect her influence greatly.

She was such a young girl when she wrote “Renascence,” and so full of passion and life and compassion. I felt like I could relate to her.

If you hated this poem, please don’t tell me. I hold it near and dear to my heart and I don’t know if I could take the disappointment! :)

Love the poem!

Last week I read from Langston Hughes poetry. “Raisin in the sun,” and “Freedom” stand out in my memory.

And the poems about suffering from racism and violence.

I do like Renascence and am reading sonnets of hers too

Edna St. Vincent Millay is a genius deserving far more press and discussion that I have heard.

Oh, by the way, Happy New Year! “that girl sabrina”
