Hiking, Camping 5 months ago

My brother and I will get up in the wee (very wee) hours and head to Kings Canyon where we will head 8 miles or so into the back country to enjoy a 4th weekend away from cell phones, traffic, television and the modern comforts. I can’t wait. This will do wonders for my mental health.

It certainly was

It was a fantastic camping trip, full of over exertion, under exertion, surprise, hardship, indulgence and the general feeling that we are small blips on a large planet. It was amazing.

I can smell the forest there.

My family used to go camping in Sequoia – Kings Canyon when I was small. Then I took my own girls there. Had hoped to go again just before we moved to Hawaii.

I so love it there.
