Kepi

My name is Elesha – and when you type Elesha into an SMS with predictive text it will come up as Keepi.

.. about 7 years ago my schoolmates started calling me Kepi and it stuck! Kepi/Keps/Kepsta.

What a brilliant Goal – Only three more to go! I need to get rid of one of my 43 before adopting :)

Cephalopod

Circa 1996 I was watching “Getting Even with Dad” Starring Macaulay Culkin.

There is a scene at a public aquarium where Macaulay and his father are arguing about a squid, his father insisting that it is a fish. He ask an employee ~ ” A squid is a fish right ? ” ~

The attendant responds in a smug tone “No sir, a squid is a cephalopod”. I thought the word was hilarious so it stuck in my mind.

In 1998 I signed up to the now defunct heat.net to play Total Annihilation online. Unable to find a suitable username I typed in Cephlapod, a rather close approximation of the correct spelling for a 13 year old. I’ve retained it online ever since.

Cephalopod is Latin for Head Foot and denotes class of intelligent molluscs including the squids, octopi and cuttlefish.

Anklelock

Wrestling submission hold. Acheived when you’re holding someone’s left ankle to your chest with your left arm and applying counter-clockwise pressure to their foot causing their ankle to bend painfully. Made famous by freestyle wrestling Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle. What an interesting goal I must say.

Schnusel

There’s a famous German rock band called “die Ärzte”... in the 80s (I wasn’t even born then, lol.) they had fan-shirts saying:
“Bela says: (a lot of signs like bombs, skulls and exclamation marks, you get the idea)”
“Farin says nothing, Farin SCREAMS!”
“Sahnie says: Schnusel!”

As me and my friends read about this, we had no idea what Schnusel meant – not even the band knew :D – but we thought it sounded cute and so it somehow became my nickname.

It’s pronounced “Shnoosle”, btw (:
