knit through my stash (read all 47 entries…)
Vacation weekend and the doldrums... 4 months ago

I’m one of those people who packs yarn to go on vacation the way a bookworm packs books. For this trip, I took a whole stack of odd balls and knit up three hats in two days and started a fourth. I feel pretty good about it. I discovered that I have a stack of finished hats where I haven’t sewn in all the trailing yarns. I don’t know when I’m going to get to that, but I need to…

I’m in between on the blankets that I’m working on. I’ve kinda gotten sick of them and have really been dragging my feet lately. I ran out of yarn on the latest one and was really worried about what I was going to do with it. Luckily someone on Ravelry had some in the same dyelot, so I have enough to finish it and I’ll probably work on that sometime this week. I have a bag of blankets sitting out in my living room. Soon I can gather them all up for the wash and drop them off at the hospital. I’m looking forward to that, but I’m still not particularly motivated.

and.....

... I thought I was the only one who packed knitting and sewing for my vacations ;-)

I finished off hats, a sweater and started another one…

You are doing awesomely well Mary :)

You're definitely not alone!

I used to bring little craft projects when we went on vacation when I was a kid. It kept me occupied. I’m pretty sure my parents encouraged this because we went on a lot of roadtrips. I also remember that my sister and I bickered and fought a lot and that our favorite “game” for the car was to play QVC. That’s a channel on American TV where they sell all sorts of odd stuff. We’d sit in the back seat and talk about how this beautiful bottle cap with an amazing, gleaming golden polish was only 25ยข, but you better call now because there are only 12 left… I’m pretty sure that drove my parents up the wall.

But yes, I pack yarn when I go on vacation.

I always take along projects to work on during vacations too, especially when I fly. My life is so full at home that I often don’t have uncommitted time to work on things like this, so the airport/airplane time is a perfect chance to do things that I wouldn’t otherwise get around to doing. Congratulations on getting as much done as you did.

What do you normally bring along?

What do you bring?

Projects

I tend to bring writing, reading or drawing projects with me. Oh and addresses for postcards so that I can help people get postcards from states they need or from new 43ers.

If that's what you enjoy, Mary...

...pourquoi pas? :))

I really love

the frogs you knitted I saw on Flickr. ! Did you follow a knitting instruction or was it your idea? really lovely…

I made the frog free-form...

for a friend’s wedding and then later tried to make a pattern for my friend’s book. The pattern editor for that book thought the instructions were too complicated, so it never saw the light of day, sadly…
