Convert to Judaism (read all 4 entries…)
Reaction 5 months ago

I’ve been talking to and studying with a rabbi for almost 2 years now, and at the end of our meeting today, I finally had the courage to say to her “I want to convert.” I’ve been really nervous about bringing it up [but then, I tend to be a quieter person and such]; I’m not really sure what I was afraid of, I guess that she would turn me away or something. But I could never have imagined what actually happened: she got this big smile on her face and said “That’s great! I’m so excited for you!” Wow. That was awesome. And I feel so much more confident now that this is the right thing.

Great Journey

I proud of you for taking this step. I know it seems that you have been on a long journey. After your conversion, another journey will begin.

Enjoy your conversion and cherish it. Most people don’t have this unique experience.

I hope you will give more info on your conversion. I know that I personally would like to hear all you wish to type.

How are things

How are things going with the conversion?

Things are going very well, if a bit more slowly than I’d like. The rabbi is a VERY busy person and so we only get to meet maybe twice a month. She has a pretty structured plan, which is nice because it means I can read ahead and start thinking about things. I went to High Holiday services again this year, and I feel as though I understand so much more than I did last year, and they definitely meant more to me. I’m also working on Hebrew—I took one semester of biblical Hebrew in college, but I don’t remember much of that. I’m still very excited, but I’ve been having a bit of a hesitation/doubts after a few good, but hard, conversations with my girlfriend. I know there are always going to be ups and downs and it’s a natural part of anything, but it’s still frustrating.

How are things with you? :)
