1. when I was around 10, I found a little kitty outside of our church near a hot water pipe. I asked my Dad if I could keep it and was surprised when he said “yes.” I went back to that same spot every week for years on end to see if I could find another kitty.

2. the first time I ever rode a horse I was 8 yrs. old. I was so happy to be on a real horse and not a pony. the horse was attacked by a swarm of flies that made him start bucking, the saddle slipped sideways but somehow I managed to stay on, and instead of scaring me, it made me even more determine to ride.

3. I have a tiny scar on my chin that I got from a dog bite when I was 4 or so. Most kids didn’t have problems with this dog, but most kids weren’t as feisty as I was… I bit first!

I’m guessing 3 is a lie as a tiny bite on the chin that left a scar from a dog after you bit the dog does not sound that believable.

I do have a small scar on my chin from a dog

but I didn’t bite the dog first
I;m not sure just why the dog bit
he was just having a bad day, I guess
the dog was generally very friendly, but that day he had just had enough.
when I went up to pet him, he snapped at me and bit my face
so you guessed this one right :)

I have to go with number 2 because I have never seen a horse buck because of flies. Use them as an excuse to get an uneasy rider, sure, but not buck from attack. There are stranger things that horses do though lol.

nope... this one is true

I spilled the whole story to Todd if you want to read it
and CC got the answer right
it was 3

Hot Toddie Schoonover ran 2468 miles in 2009, what will he run in 2010?

A Horse is A Horse

Growing up on farms, I have to agree with Stryker about the flies. Even more, saddles don’t slip sideways unless they are sized wrong for the horse and I can’t see the horse owner letting you on it without ensuring the saddle was secure.

but this is true

I was visiting my Uncle in Kentucky at the time. I had been there for a week or so and had been pestering him non stop to let me ride. He finally gave in and saddled up the only horse he had, a temperamental old mare the had not been ridden in months. The horse was stubborn and lazy and not a good mount for a first time rider but my Mother had said I would be too afraid to ride, that I was too young to control a horse, and that I would embarrass her, so I was bound a determine to prove her wrong in front of my Aunt, Uncle and cousins.
I don’t remember the first part of my ride… I guess I did ok for a first time rider, because my main memory of that ride starts as I was on the other side of an open field that was about 10 acres wide … all of a sudden the horse started bucking and running … I held on for dear life … all I could think to do was keep his head pointed toward my Uncle.. which did make the horse run and buck in the right direction at least. then I started slipping sideways … My Uncle had gotten to me by that time and caught me just before I fell.
I was told after that a swarm of “blue flies” (as my Uncle called them) were “biting the horse” ...
I have no idea what happened to the saddle … but that is the way I remember it happening
My Uncle told me later that he thought it was a miracle that I had stayed on the horse… that he didn’t think he could have done it had he had been riding all his life. That the horse was crazy from the flies and he would have crushed me if I had fallen….
he told me he was proud of me… it was the first time I had heard those words… I will never forget them
