Never Get Sick - 8 Years and counting
I came across this site actually trying to research and find out what is wrong with me. It just dawned on me, perhaps a year ago or so, that I have not been sick for at least 8 years, maybe even longer. No flu’s, no colds, nothing. I have 2 kids in grade school so I know I am exposed to just about everything imaginable.
You might think its really awesome never to get sick. Well, that part is good, the downside is that I have 2 major diseases to contend with, and I think, but I am not sure, that this is the reason I dont get sick.
I have Multiple Sclerosis and Syringeomyelia. You know what Multiple Sclerosis is. The other one, nearly unpronouncable, basically is a syrinx or cyst within the spinal cord. Despite having major MS attacks, partial paralysis etc, I have always recovered to some degree and maintain a “fairly normal” life despite this.
I think what is happening is that my immune system is in overdrive, all the time. MS is an autoimmune disease. Meaning the body’s immune system is attacking itself. So with an immune system in overdrive, it kills off anything that might make me sick.
Adding to this hypothesis, I have noticed where I think I might be getting sick, but within a day it goes away.
I do take vitamins, and stuff like that. I have a mainly vegetarian diet, but not exclusively so. I do have pizza and big macs with the kids on occasion. So I do have a reasonaably good diet, but not extreme or anything.
I’m not a shut in either, a la Howard Hughes. I get out and about and go to airports, malls, hospitals and other high risk ‘vectors.’
So, no answers, but I would be very curious to find out from anyone else if they experience this? And do you have any sort of autoimmune disease?
Thanks – and please post if you have anything to contribute!
