stop drinking (read all 7 entries…)
Tempted

My friend just texted to see if I wanted to grab some wine and come over. I declined. I can’t ignore my drinking buddies forever. But right now, I have to stay away. I wonder if we would still be friends if we didn’t have alcohol in common.

amazing insight..

perhaps, that may be the only thing you had in common, but realizing, that that is a possibility..seems to me like your headed in the right direction!

russdog a'int going out like that

I can only speak for myself but..........

If you really stop drinking totally…..you are probably going to lose some friends.

It’s surprising how much this drug bonds folks together.

I’m dealing with a similar issue…an old friend moved to Hawaii and wants me to come visit…..then I realized all we used to do together was drink….and she is a heavy drinker…..so I decided to do something else with my vacation….Hawaii would be great, but, the hangover would kill me.

Friends are people that are good for you

Do your friends know you are stopping drinking? If so, then they should be supportive, and not try to get you to go out drinking. It sounds like you are doing really well, so don’t let anyone influence you into doing what you know is bad for you. If that means breaking away from those friends, then so be it.
