write down my parents' stories
Transfering her words 4 years ago

A friend of mine interviewed my mother for a high school assignment asking students to research those who had lived through WWII. My mother, being of Czech descent, experienced some of the most horrific events of our world’s history, and my friend Holly captured all her stories on a little tape. After my mother’s funeral a few years ago, I found the tape still in a drawer of mine. Too terrified to play it, it sat for years before I had the guts to hear the haunting recording of my deceased mother’s voice. My plan is to somehow record the tape onto CD and save her verbal memory for me when I’m old, for my nephews and their children, and maybe for my own children. I am afraid that the tape will be destroyed in the process, though, but it’s important enough to try!

You will be so glad that you did it

I googled “Recording tape to CD” and got many resources to tell you how. here are a couple:

You are so awesome for checking on that for me! The Macworld link is perfect-I have an iBook with GarageBand so all I need are the audio jacks it seems. Wow…so this might actually happen??? Again, thanks for looking for me-I don’t think I knew what I was looking for, so your help is more than appreciated! I’m going to try tomorrow so wish me luck!

I'm so glad

that the info I found will help you! I know that sometimes when you want so badly to do something and are not sure where to start it can feel very overwhelming, but when I read what you wanted to do I had a feeling it might not be all that hard to do. I really hope it is as simple as it sounds! Gooooood luck! And please let me know how it comes out.

Sending a hug,
Brie
