I forgot to write about this, last semester I won a $2000 scholarship for this school year.
Every year our school runs what is called Merits. People who choose to participate, exhibit their recent work in their associated fields; mine being graphic design.
A panel of faculty judges selects students who’s work shows the greatest skill, dedication, and promise. Thus, I spent many early mornings and late nights in preparation for this opportunity. That hard work really paid off.
I was selected, as well as a fellow designer, who is also quite good, to achieve the design merit scholarship. I know she and I both appreciate the additional finances. It will help enable me to study in Japan.
This year I will try and enter again, even though I will be away from the country. This one is particularly important because the award will be $10,000, as it is for students going into their senior year. A friend of mine won it last year and she deserved it more than anyone.
Although, I’ve never seen anyone win a merit scholarship when they were studying abroad. That means I will have to try twice as hard; and have a helpful friend assist me back in the states.
I’ll do my best.
