Texas Lin Lightening Up for 2010

Laugh. A lot. Genuinely. (read all 73 entries…)
My friend who is a professional photographer 4 months ago

called me in a panic Saturday night. He had been going to a festival to sell his photographs this weekend and his car stopped running. This festival was about 150 miles further into the wilderness.

He left his car with all of his gear parked on the side of the road and it took him 8 hours to hitchhike home. I told him to get a pre-paid cell phone and someone would have come to get him! He just poo pooed that suggestion. Guess some people like taking the hard way in life.

Anyway, we get going early yesterday to get his car….had to stop to buy a portable battery charger and for 2 1/2 hours I had to listen to him tell me his plan to get the car home.
Some of which included towing his car with mine without him even asking me.

I nodded politely and told him all of this was unneccessary because his car would start and we’d get it home just fine. I knew in my heart that is what would happen. He looked at me like I was crazy.

Lo and behold…we gave the battery a jump and the car started right up and didn’t have a problem all the way home.
I didn’t say I told you so because I really had a lovely day. I saw some beautiful country that I hadn’t seen.

We stopped at the festival he was supposed to show at and I met some really nice people. The people who run the Libby History Museum asked me to judge chili in September.

We got home safe and sound. He made dinner as a thank-you.

When I was leaving he said that this scenario never crossed his mind. He ended the evening saying I have a magic about me that things usually turn out well.

Must have been why he called me for this adventure instead of one of his other friends. LOL
