funniculee is dredging up old memories of past literary loves

Daily: Reflect on at least 5 things for which I'm grateful (Happiness Manifesto #2) (read all 144 entries…)

Today I’m grateful:

1. That the weather has cooled down a bit.

2. For all the good interactions I had with kids at the library this week.

3. To have not just a job, but a job I care about.

4. For the MeFite that linked to this tattoo artist’s work (the abstract ones are my favorite). Holy cats. I never really wanted a tattoo before, and now I want 10. So pretty!

5. That it’s FRIDAY!!!!

How does she get such bright

colors? How does she make ink look like a 3-D smudge of paint? Amazing!

Yeah, it's pretty wild, huh?

I think it’s a combination of factors.

1. Those tattoos are pretty new (not yet faded), and also modern tattoo inks can be pretty bright.

2. The photos are really brightly lit, so the colors POP more than they might in natural light.

3. She’s also a talented painter, so I think she has really studied the way different brush strokes look. I think knowing the mechanics of brush strokes intimately is the only way you could hope to replicate them in tattoo ink…but it must have taken a ton of experimentation to get to that point.

Even given all that, it’s still mighty impressive.

Wow, those are amazing

I’d never seen a tattoo that looks just like a painting.

wowee!

I love the modern one of the two birds on the woman’s chest. These are gorgeous.
