Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I can't do the math...

April 12?

Close...

March 12th! Me and Liza Minelli – although I do think she’s a little past 40.

I’m going to party it up!! Whoohooo!

I need to either clean my house or find a place we can sleep over, because many of my friends say they will not drive and neither should I! :-)

It sounds like...

...a great time!

I do hope I can have a real party...

Not that I don’t mind virtual parties…but I’m worried that my hubby may lose his job in March…

He’s upper level management and the company has tanked in sales….they brought someone in over him two years ago, then fired his boss….and then hired someone to split his division…

We’d have a real hard time having a whoop-de-doo party on my lowly teacher’s salary!

My unsolicited advice

Have the party anyway, even if it means a little debt. It only happens once, and another job will come along soon enough. Although I hope he doesn’t lose his job, of course! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Do I remember correctly that you’re in gifted education? I’m president of our local MCGT/NAGC chapter. :)

I did the math again...

...and I still get April 12! (counts on fingers) January, February, March is three months, plus 16 days (since you wrote it two days ago) would put you into April! So unless I messed up the math, you only have two months and sixteen days to get ready! Oh no!!!

Well, ya see...Des???

I’m dyslexic with numbers! LOL

Ask my hubby – he says – we’re missing $100 from the checking account according to you…must be JILL math! LOL

I do only have 2 mos. to get ready…

omg – it’s really really flying!

Even my youngest sister says to my daughter yesterday – you’re mom’s gonna be 40??? OMG….

Sigh…..

Heehee

It’s no fun getting older, but they say it’s better than the alternative. I’m still a couple years away from 40 yet. I’ll have to think of something big and fun to do. Something to look forward to instead of dread.

Shannon just me...less extraordinary...more plain ole me.

I wanna do this with you.

It may be virtual, but I wanna party like it’s 1999~

Hey this is no problem....

I’ll invite you and you can change it a bit to reflect if you are not turning 40 or whatever!

Now, several of my girlfriends now want to camp out in my trailer in the summer for a girls’ weekend – since I’m the driver of this huge thing now, I’m not so sure about that, since they seem to like to see me in an altered state!
