I can also touch my knees to my nose 3 months ago

One at a time.

And I have to bend the left one slightly. But only slightly.

The right one, not at all.

I’m not sure why this impresses me, but it does.

My sleep deprivation and I are going to bed now. Cue test pattern.

Something...

very health-defining about touching our knees to our noses. Its always a badge of accomplishment in gym class as kids (when its really easy), and in gym class as adults (when we laugh and snort and think “no way”). It does demonstrate flexibility and a healthy back, hips and joints. You’re quite right to be proud.

Can you touch your hands behind your back?

Yep!

But I could never touch my knees to my nose as a kid. Which I think reinforced my idea that I was clumsy and inflexible…all the other kids could do stuff I couldn’t, so I assumed I was just built differently. I couldn’t even touch my toes, and these kids could do splits, and put their feet behind their heads!

I found out in physical therapy that I’d lost flexibility in my left hip (as a result to a misalignment in the left knee) – I couldn’t even pull that knee to my chest anymore. Something I’d always taken for granted. So I’ve been working on regaining flexibility before it becomes impossible to do so.

It’s nice to see that I can not only regain what I lost, but do things I could never do before.
