renewalsh A Burchell's Coucal, like the one in my garden

complete my petit point angel tapestry in teeny stitches that I began stitching in 1991! (read all 2 entries…)
I have been reflecting on why

I don’t ‘allow’ myself to do this.

I so enjoy it, and find that I get into a ‘zone’ where I just think about the stiches and the pattern and the colours, nothing else.

Yet I will not give myself permission to work on it.

Crazy.

Wow...

Do you realize I was born the year you started that project? XD If that doesn’t motivate you I don’t know what will! Just force yourself to do it… that’s how I create art. =P I love it but I never get around to it unless I FORCE myself to. =) You can do it!

I have a counted cross stitch project that I was

working on in 1993. I used to do counted cross stitch all the time . . . continually . . . cranking out project after project and this particular one was no more or less difficult than anything else that I had ever done and in fact was one that I really liked . . . and still do.

But in September 1993 my life took a turn . . . like a 180 degree turn . . . not necessarily bad or good, just totally different and I never got around to picking up that cross stitch again. Sometimes I run across it and think that I really should finish it . . .

Melissa is being

permission

you don’t need to give yourself permission—I give you permission. now go do it!

Keep it up!

Good for you! There are so many “lose ends” for us all to “sew up.” Keep it coming, slowly but surely!

I have a rug

(or I think I still do?) that I started in highschool, my senior year. That was 1971-2! I ddi the pattern, the interesting part, and only had the background to do. It’s all black. I got REAL bored doing a square inch of black in 1/2 hour (it’s latch hook). I should 1)toss it 2) take a pic and toss it 3) take the yarn out of it and toss the canvas or 4)finish it. I have no idea if it’s still in the attic, or not?

I totally get this and its amazing

There was a part of the movie “Happy” where they talk about flow. Thats when you do something that you don’t need to do just because it makes you feel happy. Some things are like running or rock climbing or surfing. You don’t have to do it but it feels really good. Its important to do things just because they make you feel better. Much more effective than medicine and because making yourself happy will spread to others, you are making the world a better place too.

I ahve projects like this

that seem to take years to complete. But eventually I always do. I am sure you will as well. How is it going?

newsurfiegirl is glad it is a new day

Just start

don’t think about it just start! I have a project like that that I recently pulled out and I have done more on it in the last week or two than I have in all the years it has been started. I am finally seeing progress and that is keeping me motivated to keep going.

And the answer to your question is in the Artists Way

How far are you in the book?

I’m cheerbombing you today to help you reach your goal. Getting bombed seems to result in a bunch of available cheers. I’m so happy that the formula for cheers is such a mystery.

renewalsh has gotten 16 cheers on this entry.
