Celebrate (read all 32 entries…)
September and Ostara 2 months ago

September is one crazy month. I’ve managed to celebrate about five different birthdays so far. Some merely required dinner out with friends. One entailed a visit to my sister for a few hours. It was a nice, relaxed visit with passionfruit cheesecake. She does shift work, so it was great we could catch up and that she had the day off. My sweetheart also had the week off for his birthday. We took it easy, went to the local flower festival, had a walk in one of the state parks, had a family dinner. It was great to see him relax.

I was also bridesmaid at my mum’s wedding. I had a fantastic time, getting to wear my gorgeous dress and catch up with lots of old friends of the family. Mum looked wonderful and was clearly very happy.

Ostara is today and after everything that has been happening, I decided to have a very low key celebration. Some less than pleasant weather had me foregoing the ramble in the hills I had planned in favour of some downtime inside.

It cleared up enough for me to have a walk around the front and back yard, as I have been doing lately. The trees all have green shoots and my flower bed is a riot. I picked some irises, bluebells and freesias for my altar to go with the gemstones—moonstone, bloodstone, rose quartz and tourmaline quartz. There’s jasmine oil in the burner.

My mum and stepdad dropped by for a visit this afternoon, having just returned from their honeymoon in Hawaii. They were full of lots of interesting stories and I had a wonderful time just listening to them all.

Tonight I’m off to watch anime with a bunch of friends.

Happy Ostara!

I hope the weather has been a bit nicer out your way and that you got a bit of a chance to celebrate.

Funnily enough

It’s the coldest it’s been for quite some time & lots of rain. Snuggle weather, me & my cat are having lots of cuddles!

Have a small thing planned for the weekend with friends too which will be nice, a seasonal picnic!

Happy Ostara

You sure have been busy, sounds like fun tho. Was the bad weather the dust storms that plagued parts of Australia lately? I’ve seen pictures and it looks crazy.

Some of it was.

A dust storm swept through here earlier in the week. The light was really eerie—it reminded me of when the bushfires swept through here a couple of years back. The rest of the weather craziness has just been the usual spring deal… thunderstorms one day and sunshine the next.

Hope you’re enjoying your Mabon celebrations!

Why yes

I am! We went to Pagan Pride Sat. and yesterday, (the true Mabon) there is a huge fire/drum festival that happens in a local park for the solstices/equinoxes. (A park ranger is pagan, and has been doing this for the past 4 years.) It is a favorite event for us, pure Male God tribal energy. We had a great time and were renewed by the gods.

This weekend is several covens in my tradition gathering for a nice ritual.

And next month, my favorite, Samhain.

That sounds fantastic!

I haven’t yet found a group to celebrate with, so I am quite envious.

Sounds ike you’ve had a wonderful and busy time lately! I am a bit envious because you are able to enjoy spring now – it’s autumn here and though I know that every season has its own charm, autumn is not my favourite.

It has been lovely.

I always have trouble deciding whether I like Autumn or Spring better. The weather is warmer and there are all the gorgeous flowers in Spring, but Autumn has such lovely colours!

I hope you manage to find something to enjoy about it.

Autumn Memories

I have become more friends with Autumn lately, since I am working on finding the special beauty of it. I am able to admire the colours and I like the clear air and sometimes the darkness too, but I am very dependent of sunlight to feel good. I love the sun : )

I think the most important reason to why I don’t feel comfortable with Autumn is that some difficult things have happened in my life this time of year, such as the death of my father. I don’t think of it consciously so much, but I think the memories are there and affect my mood and how I perceive this time of year. On the other hand I once fell madly in love in November, so I know that good things can happen too, even if it is cold and dark outside : )

Calissa has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
