I had my eye on a particular type of yarn, not super-expensive but much more than I usually spend, waiting for it to go on sale. Then I was in a store that had a sample of it knitted up, and I hated the way it looked when knitted. It had a nubby texture that looked cool in the skein, but when knitted just made the piece look bumpy, ratty, and worn. So now I have to find a new yarn to keep an eye on for a sale—and hopefully see a sample of it knitted before I buy it.
