I started watching this great old movie last night (A Stolen Life) starring Bette Davis, filmed in 1946. The acting was amazing, the filming was actually amazing. She plays herself and a twin sister, and for 1946 I was impressed with the split screen filming.

There were a few quotes I really liked. One was simple and not original, but still it fit in the movie well “I don’t mind being alone, I just don’t like loneliness.” Another was something like “you have found your place in life, don’t ever lose that.”

I had to leave for class about 30 minutes before the ending. So I missed the end! I have to find this movie and watch it all. I was so caught up in it! I swear those old movies are like a mini vacation (to me at least).

OH me too, sweetie... Me too,

I love old movies, I was just telling Uncle that when I was a kid and teen. I didn’t like looking at cartoons on saturday and sunday like the other kids.

I loved channel 9, that is where all the old movies came on. I love old movies.

See, I knew there was lots of reasons I adore you so much.

Old movies

I use to watch them with my aunt. There were some scary ones every Friday night (old Vincent Price movies) and she adored Errol Flynn! We watched a lot of 50s movies. I adore 30s, 40s, and 50s. I was sooooo born in the wrong decade. Well I take that back..being the daughter of a hippie suits me well I guess too! :-)

I have been watching more and more of these lately. I adore TCM channel. I’m so lucky to have it. I have been thinking about making a ‘top 10 (or more lol) list of handsome men of the 40s and 50s…I should do that!

How are you?! it’s been too long! Life can be crazy can’t it?! And of couse ‘time flies’.

I think your One Hundred list would

be awesome.
I just love the days of old. If I could, I would surround myself with as many things from that time.

Yes honey, life can be crazy and time flies. I keep meaning to write you and I always get in the way of my intentions.

SlayneB happy Yule and all holidays to everyone!

I like the old movies

because they actually had have good plots, not special effects, to make the movie entertaining.

I agree

I love the ‘from the heart’ acting, it’s so wonderful and professional and honest. And I love that a story can be told without special effects…it makes you think and use your imagination. Not that there are not good movies out today, but there is something unique about old movies and the actors! :-)

ihaveneatstuff is making home made syrups today!

I've been hitting TCM lately...

and it’s been great! I totally agree on the quality story-telling the acting is… heavy sigh…

TCM

I can switch to that channel just about any time and find something that gets my attention. Sure there are some that don’t, but so many do.

It’s magical (the acting, the stories, the settings)...isn’t it?!

:-)
