Practice Gratitude (read all 24 entries…)
Putting this entry under gratitude. 2 months ago

I don’t know what goal to use for this entry, but I put it here, because part of me feels grateful that it didn’t happen to my son.

This morning at 7:42am, one of Adam’s classmates was driving to the job site, where they are doing the home building course and somehow, the young man’s car went off the road and struck a tree, killing him. Adam’s class heard about what happened at noon and they were given the rest of the day off. The boys who returned to school were met by a grief counselor. I received a call at 1pm from the school, informing us about what happened. The young man was only 19 years of age and had his whole life ahead of him. His parents must be crushed. He was well known and liked by his 14 classmates.

This afternoon, I spoke with my son about what happened. He called in to work and asked if he could stay home. He didn’t feel like going in from 3pm-6pm. Later on, I kept on thinking about my son’s car mishap two weeks ago and immediately realized that it all could have been so much worse. My prayers go out to the parents of the boy who was killed. May they somehow eventually find peace after learning the devastating news from this morning and the loss of their loved one.

I have no words

Just tears.

New Isabella is wishing you a Merry Christmas and/or a happy holiday...

What a tragic loss...

...for this young man, and his famiily and friends and classmates. My heart goes out to them, and to Adam, and to you too.

((((((((hugs)))))))))

flowergirlresumed It's Chrisssssssssstmaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssssss!!! ;)

This is so sad... Life will never be the same for this family

Hugs to you Wayne, so glad that Adam was okay after his accident, as you said it could have been so much worse, but fortunately it wasn’t… This is something indeed to have gratitude for… Hugs again…

It is just another sad reminder...

...that life is way too short sometimes, we dont know why things happen… but it makes me think screw the stressy things we think about, tell those you love that you love them, make sure they know without doubt, make the most of every day and just be grateful….

Your entry is enough to make me take my own words to heart. Out of the gumpiness today. I will join you in being grateful that you and your son and me and my loved ones are alive and well.

Unexpected Tragedy

Working in EMS, I encounter these kinds of things way too often. I’m glad that you are able to be there for your son and that he feels comfortable expressing his feelings around you. You’re right to realize the recent accident could’ve been so much worse, and when the time is right I hope you’ll use this as a learning experience for all your boys.

wow

Not sure what to say. I feel very bad for the family that lost their son and to all of those who knew him.

ugogrl Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!

I can't imagine

the pain his parents must be feeling

If nothing else I hope your boys might understand how dangerous driving can be & perhaps show some caution while navigating the roads

Sorry to hear about this tragedy and a young life cut so short

Waynesworld Merry Christmas, fellow 43Thingers!

Funeral service was this morning.

The funeral for Adam’s classmate was this morning. All of his class were given permission to miss school for the morning and attend the service. Apparently, the young man had not yet reached his 19th birthday.

ugogrl Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas!

life is short enough

I hope his family finds some solace in the midst of this tragedy
& I hope your son is doing well

18 years hardly seems like the beginning, not the end.

I hope his family finds some solace in the midst of this tragedy
& I hope your son is doing well

nicolasc is Grinchy... very, very Grinchy. But she dons a hat and plays Santa for Sonny Lou Who anyway.

This is heartbreaking.

Every parent’s worst nightmare. Prayers for that family, and blessings to yours.
