Everyone around here is terrified right now about the Swine Flu, what about you? Are you getting the vaccination shot?
It’s the flu. The flu kills just as many people as the swine flu.
I’m young and healthy, and I wouldn’t take a vaccine that could be used for someone who really needs it, like an elderly person, or a pregnant woman.
A close relative of mine got vaccinated while pregnant (2.5 months) and miscarried just last week. Very sad situation.
I wouldn’t know what to do if I were pregnant. I heard two pregnant women died from the virus, but the vaccine seems dangerous, too. How very sad.
Very sad. I have read that when you are pregnant your immune system is down and you tend to catch everything! I wonder if that’s true. I haven’t heard that from anyone I know but…gosh, to be pregnant and sick…how hard that must be.
Anyway, tough call. I wouldn’t have to be the one to make it. I still think with the risks I might choose not to (get the shot) and to treat it with whatever is most natural and effective.

I’m sorry to hear that. Did the doctors determine it was because of the vaccination? Because they’re saying all pregnant women should get it.
Did I mention it was the Tamiflu vaccine? I don’t know which one that is. It happened right after. I heard this through my mom, not my relative so I don’t have all of the details. I guess I will never be able to get them because ….no one is going to tell me first hand. I bet this is just too personal and private for them to share.

our vaccination supply arrived today, but since I’ve already had the regular flu about a month ago …I think I’ll chance it and skip the shot.

They want us to get it because we’re parents of a preemie, but….I got the flu super bad (three times) this year from the flu vaccine. And I’ve never gotten it before in my life.
Banking off those results, and the fact that I’m a stay at home mom with fairly little risk…

what about you? No, I’m not terrified of it. I don’t want to get sick though, with the flu or a cold. I have been taking care of myself so that hopefully I won’t be sick at all this winter.
Are you getting the vaccination shot? No wayMy son and I had swine flu two weeks ago. It was miserable and a little scary. But I don’t know if I would get the vaccine, it is just too new. How can they possibly know all of it’s side effects?
How did you find out that it was the swine flu and not just a regular flu? What kind of test did they use at the Doctors office?
I don’t know exactly what kind of tests. I just know that is what the doctor told me. My son got diagnosed in time to get Tamiflu, which helped a great deal. But it was a pretty awful couple of days. Me on the other hand, I tried to rough mine out without it, but mine turned into a mild case of pneumonia which lasted about a week and a half. All around a bad couple of weeks for both of us.
Still…don’t think I’d get the vaccine. It’s just too new.
I wonder if he based it on your symptoms, or a blood test or maybe by swabbing the back of your throat. Did he do any of those?

won’t need the vaccine anymore. doesn’t your body become immune to a virus once your body has dealt with it?
I’m not too interested but J thinks I should and M should. I’ve gotten the flu on the vaccine. and she shot itself makes me feel awful. I’m not convinced swine flu is worse than other flues. I could get the vaccine for swine flu and get another kind that kills me. I still nurse lady M and I understand that if I’m sick, there’s something in my milk that protects her. She has never been sick a single day in 10 1/2 months even though I’ve gotten sick a few times.

that the fact the UK government is pushing this vaccine at pregnant women (and sorry, but are some of you saying that’s also being done in the US and elsewhere?), when the WHO has very specifically not approved it for pregnant women, is a very worrying sign. My husband asked ‘So how come they can go straight ahead with this when virtually every medication you can buy, right down to cold remedies, says not to take them when you’re pregnant?’ Great point: developing babies are the most vulnerable to any glitch in the way a drug works. Thalidomide, anyone?
Might be as well to remember the swine flu outbreak in the US in 1976. In that case, I believe the vaccine had worse effects than the actual ‘flu. I’m not a total anti-vaccination conspiracy freak; I just don’t think you can bypass essential safety precautions in the interests of getting a drug out there quickly.
I’m not in a vulnerable group. Hubby is asthmatic, although he uses his inhaler so infrequently he hasn’t even been called for the regular flu jab in years. But neither of us are about to line up to be guinea pigs, thank you.

I think the only shot I’ve ever gotten was the one for mono. Remember the mono scare a few years back?
My parents told me to get H1N1, but they are only giving them to high priority in Ontario (right?). I don’t really feel the need to get it anyways. :)

Swine flu doesn’t scare me. It did during wave 1 but only a few people were infected here and those who got it are cured.
