Police Encounters

1) I was approached by the city police at midnight on top of a hill with a girl and my explanation was “we’re looking at the stars.”

2) I was approached by the state police at 1am pulled off along the highway with a woman and my explanation was “we’re looking at the stars.”

3) I was approached by the county sheriff at 2am in a parking lot with a guy and my explanation was “we’re looking at the stars.”

Nope

My mom was visiting me one summer and had gone with me to the one movie theatre I work at. On the way home we stopped on the three mile hill that is part of the marathon course along Route 6 at a pull off to check out the stars as it was during one of the meteor showers. That was the ideal place to see them because there are no lights out there. A state police car stopped on their way back to their barracks at the top of the hill to make sure we were okay.

Nope

A coworker of mine was leaving for Russia the next day. We’d been toying with dating for months and we were saying our goodbyes. We went up to the top of the hill north of town to be alone and look at the stars. As we were kissing a car approached. It was the city police who got out and shined their flashlight at us. I was annoyed because they were outside their jurisdiction there, and because after they left she didn’t want to kiss anymore.

Too Easy

I know this one should’ve been easy. I think since the other one’s I’ve done have been less obvious people read too much into it and tried to figure out what the trick was this time.

The three statements are LIES

“we’re looking at the stars.”… yea, right!! ;)

Lies within

I’m not saying that what I said to the police was the truth or not, though in both scenarios that are true we were looking at the stars.

Luna is taking a break from 43T. She will be back :)

I know, I was joking :P

This one is tough tho. Here’s my reasoning so far:
  1. Officer: I’m not familiar with the kind and ranks of police in the US (nor anywhere else, thank God), so I have no clue there.
  2. Time: midnight is a general expression, so it could mean 1 or 2 am as well, but in case that the event was happening exactly when daylight-saving time is switching or that you are in the time-zone line, both #2 & #3 could be truths.
  3. Place: the three are inclusive, so any two could be truths.
  4. Companion: maybe you thought you were with a woman, but she could have lied and is actually a minor, so both could be true. But the guy you mention could be the officer’s companion, so that one could be true, too.

Result: I give up, in honor of our recently-reinstalled goal list :D

Number Three

The times were accurate in the first two as well as the companion. Number three was a lie entirely which I thought would’ve been obvious, but now wonder why everyone thinks I would use an excuse of looking at the stars with a guy.

The guy

I thought it was so obvious it ought to be a diversion. I figured the guy was the cop’s partner, not yours, so it could still be true.

Anyway, I really should check my messages more often, as this seems to be so long ago :P

i think

number 1 is a lie

Girl Crazy

I’m not revealing just yet which is the lie, but I figure I should define “girl” vs. “woman” in this context. Even though I’m 42, in my mind I’m still a kid. The “girl” in this scenario was in her 20s at the time, maybe even pushing 30. I don’t remember now.

Nope

I’m drawing a blank on her name now which is really sad since we were close back then. It starts with a D.

Maybe

we’re all looking at this from the wrong perspective. Maybe we should be questioning the specifics of which law enforcement agency was, in fact, involved.

Good Thinking

You know me well enough by now that it’s usually the small detail that is the lie instead of the overall scenario. I’m not saying that’s the case here this time, but it would fit my pattern with previous installments.

Plus

it’s something I’d do.

Agency

I did choose the third agency so it would be different from the two that actually happened. We do have county sheriffs around here, so it was a possibility.

So in the

process of elimination and a bit of logic, I’d say #1 is the lie, since it’s difficult to look at stars in the city.

Nope

Number 3 was the lie. The real scenario there was 4am at a 24 hour convenience station with state police asking about the damage to my vehicle. There were grass and weeds all over the front of it and damage to a side panel from wrecking around Punxsutawney an hour or so earlier.

I'm going to say two

I don’t think you would use that excuse on a highway .. in any case you have had more then enough encounters with the law for your own good :P

Law Encounters

So Friday after I flew a patient to a trauma center, I was in the ER restocking my equipment and as I was leaving I was told the state police were looking for me. I went into the break room where they were and answered their questions. Then a third cop showed up with more questions. Of course it all had to do with the accident and my patient and nothing to do with me, but it still is uncomfortable to be told the police want to question you.

US Route 6

The highway in question was US Route 6. It’s the same highway that I ran on a couple years when I did the God’s Country Marathon. It’s not a four lane divided highway, just a regular two lane one.
