Learn to speak Latin
Latin 1.

Right now I’m currently taking latin in school and its helping out a lot, so this is a nice goal to set for myself. I want to, however, learn simple phrases, like, Hello, Goodbye, etc… I bought flashcards in Latin so I will learn a few of those a day.

Comments:

What? Do you want to speak it? It is a dead language. Latin gives you a fantastic foundation to learn other languages and gives you great historical context. Learn the grammar and the vocabulary of latin and thes use this as an advantage to learn Italian, or French etc. Speaking italian will be the closest to speaking latin. Even in the Roman Age people didn’t speak classic latin, but more informal dialects. A former teacher of mine translated current texts to latin for graduation gifts and musea. It was always a fun exercise because he always had to create new words. But he never spoke it, but he often recited texts by heart.
