figure out how I want to eat (read all 9 entries…)
a few changes:

I’ve been making real oatmeal for breakfast. I make a batch once a week with raisins, agave, etc. and put it in three little containers to eat at work.

I’ve also decided to stop using flavored creamer. I like it, but I feel like plain milk is better packaging and ingredient wise.

The oatmeal

is probably waaaaaaay cheaper than cold cereal, too. Well done! I’m inspired.

This past week

I made steel cut instead of rolled. AWESOME. When I bought some bulk rolled (but not instant) to refill my oats storage container, I think the bill was 68 cents.

You have given me a solution

to a problem I now have . . . I got all gung ho to buy dried fruit at Costco, forgetting to check if it has sugar added, which of course it does. So that shoots my idea of using it for snacks, since the point of getting it is that I’m on a diet! But, I thought maybe I could use it up by doing your plan of making up oatmeal ahead of time and using the ubersweet fruit as the sweetener. So thanks!

if you have a hankering for cold cereal

which I still do from time to time, it’s also very easy to make your own granola from oatmeal. Lots of recipes on allrecipes.com, but basically some oats, nuts, dried fruit, etc mixed with some oil/honey/applesauce and baked on a cookie tray (stirred every so often) until it’s toasty and clumpy. I plan on switching to this mainly in the summer, when warm oatmeal won’t be as appealing.

change everything has gotten 2 cheers on this entry.
