cut my yarn stash in half before buying new yarn
Accounting is hard!

I should really have done some sort of accounting on how many things were in the yarn stash first, so I’d know when I reached half! Oh well. I did do a massive destashing recently, which was pretty cool. Turns out I feel much better without having all those yarns I knew I was either never going to use, or were off in the “maybe someday” pile that was… well, realistically, never going to be touched. There’s just not much point to having a ton of worsted and bulky weight yarn around when all you’re doing lately is lace!

Ravelry might help you in your quest!

If you’re already aware of this, my apologies, but Ravelry.com has an excellent “stash” page where you can list everything you have, where you got it, how many skeins and what yardage it is… you can even take pictures in case you forget what it looks like! It really helps me keep track of all of my different skeins. It also has a feature that lets you note which you’re willing to sell or trade for people to contact you.

Hope this helps somehow!

Hi, thanks for the response. Yup, I use Ravelry pretty heavily! Not sure how we ever lived before it. :-) I’ve got my entire stash and fiber stash organized up there, but unfortunately it’s hard to tell at a glance which things were marked traded/used up before my destashing vow, etc. I really should just have gotten a rough count of things and started from there!

sabrina has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
