be a little less approachable on the train.
a necessary evil

because I can’t be reliably rude or nice 100% of the time when I get the willies from strangers who want to talk to me in enclosed areas for no apparent reason…

I find wearing ear phones helps. Even if u don’t have a music player just get some ear phones and wear them or pretend to read a book.
I totally agree that it is a NECESSARY evil

Miserable swines

Any sort of interaction on public transport is tempting fate – and so adds a little something to the day. How can you say it’s evil ? Ok… what I do is stare, wide-eyed out of the window, fondling a sharp fruit knife.

Some days I want to talk to people though.

Fruitknife here I come

Just yesterday I was catching the train, I was wearing earphones AND reading but some little kid still came up to me and asked for money so I think the fruit knife is a good idea.

And yes sometimes you want to talk but these measures are just to save you from awkward conversations. I am all for talking when I know I am getting off at the next stop.

The few, the proud...

Yeah, I’ll admit it, one time I was having a really bad day and the conversation on the metro was like something out of a movie, but I’ve also had the drunk guy talking to me and then proceed to get angry for responding to him.
It’s unfair, but when I need to turtle, I’m gonna go to my happy place, fruitknife or no…
