Fishing line and more fishing line

On my last paddle I bought back a shopping bag (which I found in the river) full of fishing line (which I untangled from trees in the river) and fishing hooks. How hard is it, people? Take it home with you!! If I fall out one day whilst untangling fishing line and manage to skewer myself on a hook I am going to be REALLY MAD!! ;)

I do this all the time when walking the dog. The other day, I kid you not, I found among all the beer cans and horrid McDonalds cups, an entire Bicycle seat…a nice one with a cover. I really had to wonder how that got there.
I few people give me unusual looks as the see me pulling this stuff out of the bushes, but I can not seem to walk by it and just leave it laying on the ground. I thought I was the only one….

You're not the only one...

You’re not the only one….there is an entire army of us – and it’s infectious! People laugh (good naturedly) at my inability to leave a piece of fishing line up a tree or a plastic bottle floating in the river. I just can’t seem to leave it alone! Even if I fall out of the kayak in the process of trying to retreive it, hehehe. My garbage retreival adventures have become a source of hilarious stories. What I notice though, is that other people started to have adventures too. We joke about “the big one we landed”. (Tin can, or inflatable cushion.) Congratulations on your bike seat – that’s a superb catch! Wonder how it got there?
