in order to really take advantage of my unschooling (because this is my last year of high school and a very unique opportunity) i have to allow it to consume me. and i mean that in the best possible way. i have to be very aware that I am always learning, even when it seems like i am not. and i have to remember that learning doesn’t mean the same thing as being busy. i have to be very fearless.

Good luck! I’m in eight grade and this year has been kind of unproductive for me. I’m hoping to change that! :)

how's it going
with your unschooling?
I’ve got a son who’s in his last year of high school, too (and we homeschool but tend to let him learn whatever he’s interested in).
hey
it’s going well! the one subject i have trouble with is american government. it just doesn’t come as naturally to me as the others do… but that’s okay, if i keep looking i know i will find something that really sparks my interest.

is it something
you think is too boring? or maybe you just haven’t found an interesting way to look at it?
Both of my older sons studied government by following elections. They read about it, followed issues and candidates. They went to one political rally (2 years ago) and they even got to work as poll workers this past November.
Persoally I love the courts, and I have taken the boys just to sit in local courtrooms and listen to cases as they’re being held. Boy, do we have great discussions after that!
Aren’t all city council meetings and committee meetings open to the public? You can just go and sit there listening, see what you think of how the government works in real life.
Just a few ideas…hope you don’t mind me sharing.
