Name Songs that I find particularly Moving or Beautiful (read all 25 entries…)
#26 - My Cup Runneth Over

from the musical I do, I do. I have known this song for most of my adult life and find it both moving, inspiring and romantic. The harmony is just a little more complex than the average love song, which gives it a little spice and adds to the overall effect.

I knew this song as a kid...

My parents had the Ed Ames album. According to wikipedia, that would have been 1967. Great song. :)

Yes, it is

a great song and thanks.
Ed Ames, boy that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time but now that you mention it, I do remember him singing this song back in the 60’s.

As I mentioned in my post, the song is from the musical “I Do! I Do!”. Just looking at your link and doing further searching, I recall now that the musical was written by the same two people that wrote The Fantastiks, which is probably one of my all time favorite musicals. I have never seen a performance of I Do! I Do! but would love to see one if its ever done locally.

You're welcome.

The learn-something-new-every-day department:

(1) I never knew that the song was from a musical, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen “I Do, I Do”, although I have heard of it, and I have seen “The Fantastiks.” There were a lot of musicals back then.

(2) I never knew Ed Ames was not a Native American until I read the linked article. :)

Douglas has gotten 7 cheers on this entry.
