Go on a photography trip with my dad (read all 4 entries…)
43 things: #19 Go on a photography trip with my Dad 3 years ago

Although I live with my dad, we don’t often do things together, especially when compared to the amount of things I do together with my mum. Some of that is due to the fact that I don’t live with my mother and therefore I try to make the most of the time that we are together, I suppose. Some of it is also probably due to the fact that I don’t have as many interests in common with my dad. Still, I feel guilty for turning him down all the time, especially when he goes to the trouble of asking so often. So I thought it might be a good idea to include this in my list of things to do in 2006. Photography is my Dad’s passion, and although it’s not really an interest of mine, I enjoy seeing the world in a different way. I thought it would be a good way of spending more time together.

Saafir is planning his best year yet

This sounds like a great goal...

I’m sure it would be rewarding if you approached it with the right attitude. I’ve been trying to think of creative ways to spend more time with my parents. I get busy with work, school, and my wife and I don’t make enough time for my family. Good luck (and, yes, I cheer bombed you anyway) :-)

I noticed that, you wonderful man! Thank you.

It can be hard to fit everything in. Perhaps you could invite them over for dinner? Not exactly creative, but it’s a start I suppose. That is, if you don’t do that already.

that's awesome!

I used to do this with my dad…great bonding times!

ardilla actually graduated this fall!

What a great goal Calissa!

I hereby respectfully & lovingly nudge you on this goal :)

I would just melt of happiness if my dad asked me to do this with him.

evenstar42 Merry Christmas all :o)

Why don't you ask him?

I know it’s probably not that easy, but maybe he’d respond if you reached out to him in some way, especially since you’ve said before that he’s mellowed a bit since you were a kid.

I'm sure he would.

We’re certainly far from being on bad terms. It’s just that sometimes we’re like two ships passing each other in the fog.

But with such lovely spring weather at the moment, it seems like ther perfect time to get into action on this.

Ships in the fog

what a great analogy.

Calissa is moving soon.

It's an old one.

And not one of mine, I’m sorry to say. But it does seem particularly apt on occasions.

evenstar42 Merry Christmas all :o)

Actually

the question was directed at alcachofa – but I’d certainly encourage you to reach out to your dad too :o)

Oops!

:D

In that case I agree. Anything that brings people closer together is worth a try.

(sigh)

Yes, that would be the easy way to go about having a healthy relationship with him. However, there is another party that plays a big role in this and that is his wife. She gets extremely jealous (and pissy) of any use of my father’s resources (including his time) that doesn’t include her. So the only times I see my dad are either at lunchtime, or when she’s away.

Anyway, I don’t want to hijack Calissa’s entry here. Thanks for he suggestion though :)

evenstar42 Merry Christmas all :o)

::sigh:: indeed

There’s a lot I could say about that, but you’re right, I won’t thread-jack :o) We’ll talk about it another time, if you want.

ardilla actually graduated this fall!

thread-jack :)

Thank you for the offer, I will take you up on that, I’d love to hear your insight. I’m sure the opportunity will present itself in the near future.

Calissa is moving soon.

Thank you for the reminder

I really should do something about this soon. The weather is perfect for a motorbike ride together and it’s an easy matter to take the camera along.

Thank you

for the reminder to do this goal and just how wonderful my dad really is.
