I have had this same problem with my camera
It seems that the smarter the phones/cameras get, the harder it is to straight upload them without having to manually flip things yourself in some type of photo editing software. I have several workarounds of that sort, but no advice on how to master it on a direct upload from phone/camera.
Have you worked out a solution yet?

Some phones...
allow you to correct that on the phone. Once you take the picture, go into the ‘my picture’ screen, look for options, than look for modify. I’m sure it’s probably not on all phones, but if I have it on my crappy genericmobileTM than most phones should have it.
