Round the World 2005

Booked a round the world ticket for less than £1000 this year and went away for 7 months. Train across Canada was magical, west coast of the states was mediocre (much of a muchness and you aint gonna see much you aint seen on the tv), pacific islands were fascinating and worth seeing before mcdonalds and starbucks hit town. New Zealand must be seen in a camper, Oz by car up the east coast. Singapore was interesting, hot and strict, however much to do once you scratch the surface. Train it through Malaysia and Thailand, cheap as chips and less fattening.
Islands in Thailand were a pleasure and a great way to finish the trip off at low cost, in the sunshine and with great nosh. Hong Kong stopover on the way home.
Just do it. This life isn’t a rehersal. Any questions greatfully recieved.

wow.

sounds like it was an incredible trip. this entry has inspired me! i liked your final words: “just do it. this life isn’t a rehearsal.”

get out there

yeah, just get out there. i was in hospital for 6 weeks the year before last and suddenly woke up and thought, well thats part of 2004 down the pan. i didn’t want to be 50 and travel so i went, done it and returned. You know what, one return, nothing and nobody had changed. Except me.

good for you. that’s awesome. did you travel on your own or with a friend/relative/etc.?

Travelled with my partner and only had one arguement, in Vegas, and not about money! Mind you, I did enjoy returning to work and having some space afterwards (sounds cruel, I know).

LOL

That doesn’t sound cruel at all. We all need our space and alone time and 7 months straight is a long time to spend in someone’s company with little time to yourself!
