Upgraded Family Tree Maker

I upgraded to Family Tree Maker 2005 over the weekend. The interface is much, much better than the old software. The hooks to online research look much better as well, but I can’t afford the membership fees right now.

The only downfall

to FTM2005 is when entering sources you now have to scroll to get them. Heck, I’ve got over 1500 sources and it is tough to scroll to them.

It use to allow you to type the first three or so letters in and the correct source would pop up, or you could copy and paste with the keyboard shortcuts…. argh….

What software do you use?

I bought Heritage Family Tree Deluxe by Individual Software, Inc.

It’s a little hard to navigate, but easy to use to populate with the individual’s information.

What about forms

and things of that nature? Sourcing, is it easy there. I source, and source, and source, and source.

I don't think I played with those features

I used mostly to enter data from Family documents and create the Tree aspects.

I initially started by creating an MS Access DB, which I gave up real fast. Too much work creating it from scratch.
