Thanks Ray. I’ve started using Nippon Voice blog, which I’ve found to be very helpful. It teaches vocab that is time-relevant, so it can be put to use immediately. I learned a lot over the New Year about osechi ryori, and was able to talk about it while eating it. Check it out:

(I wonder why the speaker chooses to end many of her sentences with ใงใ™ใ‚ˆ. It sort of reminds me of the way an adult might talk to children. Though it would be nice if a native could confirm that.)
