As soon as I found out I was pregnant with my first child, I discovered a whole new type of love. I can’t even explain it because it’s too great a concept to put into words. But I’m guessing most mothers know what I mean.
I just loved this child so much that the thought of this child being hurt in any way at all, made my heart ache. It went even further than that and I felt a love for all babies and children.
I always tried to be the best mother I could be, but that doesn’t mean I was because you can only be as good as you know how to be. There are things I have done and choices I have made that I regret doing as a mother and I have beat myself up about these things. But now I just pray that my children will know how much they are loved and I pray that I will be able to show it.
Last night I was thinking that my daughter is now 13 years old and my son is 10. Before long they will be off doing their own things so these days are precious. It is my goal to make the most of these years and be as good a mother and example as I can be, and not let anything else get in the way.
