I’m learning this piece for my AMEB Certificate of Performance that I’ll take later this year. Of course, I can’t wait to perform it in public as well. I’ve got most of the chords down, although due to my somewhat short hands (hmmph) I’ve had to cut out some of the notes of the four-note consecutive chords, much to my dismay.
Still haven’t worked out whether or not to use the sustain pedal or not in this piece…. so very tempting to.
Upon my first glance, two clefs for each hand seemed ridiculous, but now I find it quite refreshing.
Obviously, sight reading this piece would be a nightmare, but once you’ve played it through a few times, you can easily just hammer through it. The tempo also helps in that department, although the ‘agitated’ middle section will need some work. Bringing out the melody in this bit will be the hardest part of this piece I think, as I personally have difficulty emphasising different fingers of the same hand in rapidity.
Ach, I’ll get there… I hope.
