I have been a librarian for 23 years. If any of you are new to the profession I would be happy to talk to you/mentor you. I have worked in college and public libraries.

the offer to mentor, Vicky! I am sure to have questions for you as time goes on and your experience is a valuable asset to the LIS students in our group.
Leyali is sleep-deprived.
My degree is ten years old, but I will finally be using it professionally in two weeks. I probably need more mentoring than most. I will be in a public library, and honestly, I don’t even know what to wear.
mejaka is on the preferred substitute list--for Project. Weird.
to work toward a media specialist endorsement on my secondary teaching certification (Engl/Span). I’m not actively teaching (I’m a mom at home). In Idaho the state board of ed doesn’t care what you take for certification renewal, but after renewing twice just by taking classes that caught my fancy, I thought I probably ought to take classes that actually broaden or deepen my employability and field understanding. Library science won the bid because there were classes available that were a bit less expensive, because there was a mix of classes that added up to the five credits I needed (five is so much harder than an even six!), and because if I didn’t commit myself to something, I was going to run out of resistance for the photography and museology classes that were enticing me to be frivolous with my renewal credits again.
