be an organ donor
Already started the process

I’ve been an organ donor since I turned 16 and stated so on my license! I have every intention if anything I have is good enough when I die, that it should be taken out for use for others. Why keep something I’m not going to use? I think I’ll be cremated anyway, so this is just a better idea!

Brave

I am afraid of being an organ donor. I have this fear that if I go to the hospital, and they see that I am a donor, that they won’t try very hard to save me, and they’ll harvest all my organs and sell some on the black market.

My organs would be worth a lot, since I don’t drink or smoke, don’t have hepatitis or any other disorder, and take good care of myself. My kidneys and liver, and all of my excellent arteries would be worth a fortune.

So, the doctors would legitamately harvest a couple of things to cover things up, and make a fortune under the table with the rest of it.

Yes, I have quite the imagination.

Well I’ve actually never heard of this happening in the US. I suppose if you did some research you may find this has happened. However, I wouldn’t let that keep me from trying to save others lives.

I do know that there are an excess number of bodies that are ‘given to science’! Also, organs only last so long. Its rare that if you are in the hospital for a reason, all your organs will be completely intact and healthy.

If you have a disease and have to go to the hospital, a good chunk of your organs will be effected. If you are in a car crash, many organs are effected. If you are getting old in age, your organs have already been effected. Your eyes might have glaucoma or cataracts- not donate-able. Your skin might have developed iffy looking moles- not donate-able. Your heart eventually gets weaker and weaker with time. Your lungs can be effected from other people’s choices and pollution in the air.

I think the chances of your body and organs being in perfect shape while doctors try to keep you alive, is extremely slim. You’re at the hospital for a reason, so your organs must no longer be top notch.

The Organs Needed list is so long and there is such a wait because most organs that are needed, are not healthy enough to be used or they are not accepted by the Needed’s body.
