Maintain a list of new music I want to listen to (read all 2 entries…)

We’ll see if I actually listen to it, but I’ve decided to track this list under a category on my blog:
Music to listen to

Webjay

Have you heard of Webjay? There’s a ridiculous amount of great music on there, although it can be tricky to find the gems.

Each playlist is just a collection of links to mp3s that are posted on web sites, mostly label and band pages. If you get into it, you can use it to organize your own lists…

Webjay++

Oh my goodness. Lot’s of good stuff on Webjay. Thanks for the intel.

That's not my problem

WebJay looks like an awesome site. I’ve been using http://last.fm also, which is great (it makes recommendations based on your current likes and listening habits).

My problem is that I find too many bands already that I want to listen to. WebJay would just give me more, and I’d have to spend time finding the MP3s to add to the playlists. I just want some quick way of listing the artists and albums so I can come back later and do them justice.

Sorta

I use Webjay for a version of that. Once you’ve poked around a bit, you can probably find a few playlists you like.

Once I’ve found one, I’ll listen to it in the background with the webjay playlist page still open, and check the ones I really like. Then, when I’m done listening, I just copy them over into one of my own playlists to listen to, organize songs, and download when I feel like it.

Pretty soon, you find a few people who tend to make playlists you like, and you can even subscribe to their xml feeds—either for all their playlists or individually, so you know when they’ve added songs. It’s not perfect, but it’s an interesting sort of community.
