Derrick Tabb is bringing new hope to New Orleans through music. After Hurricane Katrina forced people to start their lives elsewhere, Derrick feared that the loss of music classes in many schools would change the fabric of the city’s culture. Derrick paired up with Allison Reinhardt and created the Roots of Music to teach kids an instrument, give them a meal, encourage them in school and bring them a sense of pride and community through band practice.
