Off to a good start

does a cheer count?

gotta hope so.

Then I did mine for the day. I will do another just for good measure.

ah

I’d like to compliment you on your wisdom.

and I would like to compliment you on yours, for recognizing mine.

:)

I realized recently that, though I make an effort to be polite to everyone I come in contact with daily, I rarely take the time to notice them. It’s amazing how telling the cashier at your local grocer that her new hairstyle looks really nice on her can bring about such a great smile.

SRP

of course!

any little compliment goes a long way.

yesterday

I complimented a woman on her coat as I was sitting down to eat at a restaurant last night. It was hanging between our benches kind of. It was such an adorable spring coat.

When I sat down, I heard her say to her husband, “Don’t touch my coat.” How disheartening for me.

I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.

don't let it get you too down

it may be she was not used to being complimented.

don’t give up on this one it’s such a nice thing. I have begun complimenting moms and dads with kids who behave in public. I say “your kids are so well behaved” or “I just wanted to say how great your kids have been with shopping/waiting in line/in waiting room etc. ”
we notice the bad ones, we should point out the good ones!

a lesson I first learned from a teacher who called to tell me my son was a great kid to have in his class. floored me, I wasn’t used to a teacher calling for a good reason. but it made my whole week when it happened.

thank you

I will continue on my goal. Thanks for the encouragement.

I love the idea about complimenting parents. The world needs more adults that were raised well by their parents as kids. Did that make sense?

yup

course I may not be the best judge of sense.

you seem pretty estute to me.

SRP

keep at it

She may not be used to getting compliments or she may not know how to take a compliment. I have a friend who, whenever you compliment her (on a new outfit or hairstyle, or a good idea, etc.), immediately responds with some negative comment about herself. Alternatively, we seem to have become a society of paranoid and distrustful people. The woman may have misinterpreted your comment and assumed you had some evil ulterior motive. Who knows, deep down, she may have appreciated your comment and just didn’t know how to show it.

I like to think that compliments are infectious—if I compliment a stranger they will be more likely to do the same for someone else and we will all be happier people. Congratulations on your efforts to spread cheer!

I will keep at it

thanks for the encouragement.

I complimented a woman this morning while getting my morning coffee on how good she looked. After blushing and thanking me, she shared that it was her first day on a new job and really appreciated the pick me up.

I will use this as inspiration that we can all make the world a better place with a little kindness.
