yakuza who has missed me?

eat with my hands
At an Ethiopian restaurant 3 years ago

Every time I’ve gone, there’s never been any utensils given out. So, I’ve had to eat with my hands. Not a big deal, as long as I wash them…

Comments:

Cool

Did you eat some of that spongy greyish bread stuff that your supposed to pick the food up with… the name escapes me, I have had it before it is quite an acquired taste.

I did indeed

The first time I tried it, someone in college had brought some back from a restaurant (leftovers). I remember that I tried it, and boy I was disgusted by it as soon as I touched it. Warning: when this bread thing is cool, it feels like human flesh. Bleh.

But more recently what I’ve found is that the bread serves also as the plate. There is a flat woven basket, under it, and then the bread, and the food is served on top of the bread. I’m a fan now, but I haven’t had ethopian food in a while.

Injera

is the name my friend !! LOL at the fleshy feeling .. my worldly aunt introduced me to it along time ago, I didn’t know about it being used as the plate though

In DC

There is a fairly large Ethiopian and Eriterian (sp?) community here, so we’ve got a handful of restaurants for each. Nothing near where I live though, and these places serve it that way.

I know that’s fewer dishes that way too. Not like a Korean restaurant!

yakuza has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
