I finally went to Finland last year to film some interviews for a documentary I’m making. Despite meeting some amazing people (the band Värttinä, and Jussi Huovinen – the last surviving Karelian runesinger), the whole trip was way too rushed. Most of our time was spent driving from Helsinki to the Russian border and back.
