My only Christmas tradition

As long as I’ve been away from home and anti-holiday, on Christmas Day I’ve enjoyed going to dimsum for breakfast (the only places reliably open) and watching a silly movie that usually comes out on that day. The last few years it was Royal Tennenbaums, something I forgot, and then one of the Hobbit movies… Royal Tennenbaums being one of my favorite movies of all time. Well, this Christmas Day Wes Anderson’s new movie is coming out and I just have to see it. Unfortunately, the people I usually see it with have moved far away and I need someone new to see it with. Presumably also far from family and non-naustalgic about the holidays. Should be okay with drinking early. Must be a Wes Anderson fan. And needs to be within traveling distance of the Egyptian Theater in Seattle. Anyone?

I am non-nostalgic, a fan of both dim sum and Wes Anderson, and very much within travelling distance of the Egyptian, but physically too close to the fam to get out of holiday obligations. Actually if my sis weren’t going to be in town I could probably join you but I know she’ll want to be with the fam that day and since I’m her chauffeur (sp??) I’m stuck. But now who am I going to see it with?!? :(

Or can I join you. It actually turns out my whole entire family is doing the anti-holiday thing on Christmas day, no parties, or gatherings. Plus, I have a friend that owns a bar and he is going to keep it open on Christmas. Traditionally, I actually have been much like you on Christmas day and have done everything from playing pool with a Jewish bartender in Albuquerque x-mas day and eating Rudy’s BBQ, hung out with various friends and seen movies, or just sat at home and caught up on much needed organization.

I’m so excited about the movie. I saw that they were showing early screenings of it… today actually… but I’d rather wait until Christmas Day. Are you up for the pre-movie Dim Sum as well?

Saw it last week, for free at a preview screening—man, living in New York ROCKS. I liked it a great deal, it won’t be to everyone’s tastes for sure, but I hope you like it to. The review on Amy’s Robot hits every point about it I want to make, and then some.
