Figure Out What I'm Really Good At (read all 4 entries…)
It's Tough 4 years ago

In my job I am being forced through conflict and circumstance to really look at this stuff – to think about myself objectively and make decisions and plans. It’s tough – the toughest time I’ve ever had professionally, but also really good.

There are a number of tools to help

There are 3 things that make a career worthwhile. It has to be:
  1. something you are good at
  2. something you love
  3. a place and environment you like.

Being good a bowling but hating it is just as useless as loving bowling but being terrible at it.

There are lots of tests at your local employment office that your can take for FREE, that will help you discover your strengths.

Finally, the best book on the subject I’ve fount is “What Color is your Parachute” by Richard Nelson Bolles. It takes some effort to do the exercises, but you will really get to know yourself better. It’s worth it.
