seeking~serenity hates when she's away for what seems like forever! Hello again, 43. :)
I finally got into see a doctor on the 15th for a full physical!
Yay me! It took me forever to get it done but I’m so happy I got in!
I thought I’d feel really anxious about my appointment, in general, but…I DIDN’T! I was full of relief that I was hopefully going to start feeling better soon. I had a great Doctor…she was soooo nice and actually listened to me and I truly felt she cared about me, not only as her patient, but as a person. With past docs, I could talk until I was blue in the face and get absolutely nowhere except “You’re fine. Exercise. Eat right. Vitamin C…you’ll feel good soon.” (What a load of bs!!!) But finally…I got a doctor who wanted to really help C= She allowed me to talk to her about how I was feeling, without cutting me off every five minutes. It was really nice.
Anyways, she wanted to rule out everything and since I haven’t had a blood panel done in over 6 years, she ordered 19 different tests. I had 10 freakin’ viles of blood taken from me! More viles than anytime when I was pregnant. And I hadn’t eaten in about 20 hours before all that blood was taken from me, either! So sad. But thankfully I have a bf that’s a Nurse who told me not to eat breakfast if I was having labs. So I was hungry but happy.
The doctor looked at my throat and said it looked odd and that she wasn’t comfortable letting me leave so she told me to make an app with an E.N.T. (which luckily was in the same building and covered by my insurance). I figured I’d make one for a week out, but they said I could be seen in an hour…soooo I waited to be poked and prodded again. The E.N.T. (Ear Nose and Throat Doctor) looked at my sinuses and my throat…through a pipe thingie…that she put through my nose…down my throat!! Quite uneasy feeling. I told her I’ve had sore throats and swollen lymph nodes in my neck and tonsil stones on/off for 4-5 years. She said I had large, inflamed adenoids (tissue in nose) and inflamed tonsils, and that the best thing for me would be to have a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy. My adenoids are problematic due to allergies and cause sinus problems. So happy those are going!
I’ve felt like crap for years and I’ve gotten so used to it, I can’t think of how nice it will be to feel human again. I spoke with my bf about it and he said that makes sense…the tonsil stones in my tonsils, carry bacteria (gross, I know) and sit and fester, which make my tonsils swell, which makes my throat swell, which makes my lymph nodes swell to help attack, which makes my immune system constantly fight, which makes me ALWAYS tired!
PHEW! That was long-winded.
I got a lot out of my visit. It was a great office and everyone was so kind and caring…and OMGoodness, helpful. I’m glad I’ve gotten myself taken care of.
I have an appointment with the same E.N.T., at her hospital, for a tonsiladenoidectomy on September 30th. WOOHOO!
I also got my labs back 2 days later (so quick and by e-mail)...nothing was abnormal. Everything was in range. My thyroid tests even came back fine. I was sure with how I’ve been feeling that my numbers were high. I didn’t think tonsils could be this much of a problem! Dang. Well, they’re going buh-bye and I couldn’t be more excited!
Okay, I think I’m done rambling…too tired…gotta sleep for hopefully 5 hours :)
Good night, 43. Zzzz.
