Post my Annual "Top 10 Films" list (read all 2 entries…)
my top 10 of 2005

thank you for inviting me to do this, aleem! this is quite difficult for me because i’m such a movie junkie that when i get asked what my favorite movie is i have to reply “one?! how about 100, better make that 200”. another reason this is hard for me is because unfortunately, chicago doesn’t get all of the movies i want to see, so they either haven’t made it here yet or won’t (lucky new york & l.a.) & i also missed a few when on vacation. some of these are- Junebug, Color Me Kubrick, Brick, Nine Lives, the Dying Gaul, Cache, Ellie Parker, Transamerica, the Matador, the Devil & Daniel Johnston, Occupation Dreamland, Keane, Lemming and the Libertine. no wonder i can never seem to get my netflix queue below 300 in the 6+ years i’ve had it! the first 7 came to mind very easily since i was so crazy about them. the last three aren’t as strong of contenders for me, but still great. so here’s my top 10 of 2005…

1.Brokeback Mountain
2.Munich
3.the Edukators
4.the Squid and the Whale
5.Jarhead
6.Crash
7.School of Rock
8.Thumbsucker
9.March of the Penguins
10.the Ballad of Jack & Rose

i also really enjoyed Syriana, Capote, Proof, Funny Ha Ha, Apres Vous, Batman Begins, Murderball and Dear Frankie.

the worst i saw in 2005 had to be Derailed and War of the Worlds.

Looking forward to reading everyone else’s picks!

U movie junkie :P

nice…

I have seen most of the above…

was Thumbsucker that good?

out of curiosity.. did you see kong yet?

anyways thanks for sharing your top picks with us

from one movie junkie to another...

i haven’t seen King Kong. as corny as it might be, i love the King Kong from the 70’s.

i really liked Thumbsucker. so many things about it just made it one of those types of movies that i just kept finding myself thinking about. it’s quirky, but seeing so many movies, i wind up liking ones that are unique and different from the rest quite a bit of the time. i certainly don’t think it’s for everyone, but i recommend it.

did you ever wind up seeing Match Point? i’m a woody allen fan, but it just didn’t do that much for me.

so is 2046 as great as In the Mood for Love?

Junkie...who, ME?

nope..haven’t seen Match Point yet..

2046 was OK but not at the level of excellence as IMFL IMO

maybe I went in expecting too much as I adored every minute of IMFL and had anticipated 2046 for ever….I have it now and will watch it again soon

So I have to ask…whats your favorite movie of all time…wait make that UR top 100 better yet top 200….ughh just email me the list of everything you’ve seen over the last few decades…hehee

wow! that’s gonna take me some time to put together. how about you- what are your favorites?

A short list of some of my all time personal faves

and some others that I loved enough to add to my DVD collection
